Playing With Sound #1: sound and drawing, with Bela and Rachel
Join musician Bela Emerson & visual artist Rachel Cohen for an inspiring creative session exploring interactions between drawing / mark-making and sound.
This is a playful workshop space for curiosity and exploration – no previous experience or particular ability is needed.
We’ll be creating spontaneous pieces together for our own enjoyment, in a beautiful indoor space in the newly-restored Stanmer Park estate.
The session forms part of Brighton & Hove Music for Connection’s Stanmer Sounds sessions, as part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s Stanmer Park Restoration Project.

What to expect
There have been lots of changes to the park during the Restoration Project, so this is a chance to get to know the park in a new way.
Please bring any drawing materials you have – including biros, pencils, art materials.
Is this for me?
All adults and accompanied children are welcome to take part in the sessions. No music-making or drawing experience is necessary, just an openness to take part and try new things.
If you have any questions, please contact us to discuss.
Is this a course or a drop-in?
You can book just one session or sign up for others as they become available – it’s up to you. Each session is unique; please see the website for details of each one. Sessions are funded by Brighton & Hove City Council – they’re free, but places are limited, so if you book, please turn up!
