We’ve been running music and sound workshops in Stanmer Park for the past year, for Brighton & Hove City Council’s Stanmer Restoration Project. Sounding Stanmer is the final workshop of the nine, and it’s going to be very special!
Sounding Stanmer is an exciting free three-hour workshop bringing together voices, found / natural sounds, and stringed instruments to create a unique piece using the park and what we find in nature as inspiration.
This is a playful workshop space for curiosity and exploration – no previous experience or particular ability is needed.
What to expect:
The three workshop leaders – Bethan Prosser (found / nature sounds), Bela Emerson (strings: violins, violas, cellos), Zoe Konez (voice) – will be drawing on some of the creations from the Stanmer Sounds sessions, such as poetry and artwork, to create a one-off piece for our own enjoyment, to celebrate our wonderful park.

Based on listening, we’ll be in groups experimenting with the various elements to weave our piece together. This is a light-hearted workshop focused on wellbeing, creativity, and playfulness. No particular experience is required, and people can join in as much or as little as they wish.
