Open Strings

Open Strings Music was founded in 2013: this specialist community music organisation was the forerunner of Brighton and Hove Music for Connection (BHMC), providing music-making for a huge variety of groups and individuals in Brighton & Hove and beyond.

Now part of Music for Connection, Open Strings encompasses our all-abilities’ strings sessions. We have a bank of instruments for people to use and try in our sessions, including:

Silver Strings, Brighton & Hove’s very own later-starter community string band.
Experiential sessions for mental health and wellbeing, with Preston Park Recovery Centre.
On-demand sessions for adults of all ages and abilities – even complete beginners have a place in our Strings at Twilight sessions!
