Who We Work With
Who is Music for Connection for?
Music for Connection (BHMC) is a Brighton & Hove -based not-for-profit Community Interest Company which provides opportunities for people to connect and create together through live music-making.
Music for Connection is for anyone who wants to experience the warm glow of group music-making in a non-judgemental setting. We have sessions to suit a range of interests and requirements: ss well as running workshops and projects to help people of all abilities make music together using stringed instruments – violin, viola & cello – we also facilitate creative music sessions with people with dementia and their carers, for mental health and wellbeing, and with adults with learning disabilities.
While some projects are for specific groups, others are open access. As well as our string groups, we run workshops and projects for people to play together using a range of instruments and sound sources, including singing and body percussion. No prior experience of music-making is required to play with us, and in many cases we even provide the instruments.
Please go to our calendar for dates of current workshops & sessions
– and email us here if you’d like to suggest a workshop or go on our mailing list.
Who do we work with?
We work with a range of individuals, who come along to our sessions, and organisations who refer people to our groups, or invite us in to run sessions for and with their clients. We currently work in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council, Brighton & Hove NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, Mind in Brighton & Hove, and numerous residential and supported living schemes throughout the city.
