Silver Strings – it’s never too late to learn!
“Joining Silver Strings has changed my life, now making music is part of my everyday and I’m loving it!”
Silver Strings is a fortnightly music session for adults who’ve always wanted to play a stringed instrument. At Silver Strings, we warm up gently and play as part of a larger group to make a wide variety of music together. Everyone is welcome, regardless of previous experience – no music reading is necessary, and everyone can choose the material we play.
Learning an instrument in a group keeps our minds active and our fingers supple – and it’s a lot of fun! Participants say: I get such a sense of achievement (SW), My hands are now more agile (DP), Every week is a highlight! (RW).
We even provide the instruments: choose violin, viola or cello – or try all three!
The sessions are facilitated by Bela Emerson: professional cellist, and CTLLS-qualified / Goldsmiths-trained music facilitator.
Where: The Brighthelm Centre, North Road, BN1 1YD
When: fortnightly Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30am
Cost: £13.50/ fortnightly session (payable monthly) thereafter, inclusive of instrument use during session NB: we are sometimes able to offer a limited number of discounted places for people on lower incomes – please contact us and ask about the Silver Strings bursary scheme (with thanks to Paley Trust)
